We are NUS AI Society, we are working towards the goal of creating an AI community within the school of computing. We plan to encourage students to learn about AI by building projects, developing research skills and conducting workshops

Who are we?

We are a group of AI enthusiasts that want to raise awareness of AI in NUS, and just have fun learning AI together We have lessons on Wednesday 4-6pm and a hacking sessions every Thursday 6-8pm

What do we do?

Welcome to the AI Society at NUS!

We are a vibrant community of students and enthusiasts dedicated to exploring the frontiers of artificial intelligence. Our mission is to foster a collaborative environment where members can dive into cutting-edge AI research, share knowledge, and work on innovative projects.

Our society brings together diverse talents and perspectives, ranging from those who are deeply involved in AI research to those with a keen interest in its applications. We engage in a variety of activities, including workshops, seminars, hackathons, and collaborative projects that span a wide array of AI domains, from machine learning and natural language processing to robotics and data science.

Whether you’re looking to enhance your skills, contribute to impactful projects, or simply connect with like-minded individuals, the AI Society is the place for you. Join us as we push the boundaries of technology and drive the future of AI!

Coreteam

Warren Low: I’m Warren, and I’m excited to be part of the AI Society’s executive committee. I’m a TIL Finalist from the DSTA competition and have gained valuable experience through two internships focused on RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) and AI agents. My journey in AI has involved learning about fine-tuning and working on some innovative projects that push the boundaries of technology. I’m looking forward to leveraging my background and collaborating with you all to drive impactful AI initiatives and make our society a hub of cutting-edge advancements. @bonyydinosaur, where I am starting a blog on AI papers.

Vangmay Sachan: I’m delighted to be part of the AI Society’s committee. I’m an AI enthusiast and an aspiring researcher in the field. In my most recent project, I conducted research on using LLMs for the field of relation extraction and wrote a literature survey. I love to learn new things and work on projects that push me out of my comfort zone. During freetime, you might find me reading philosophy, bouldering, playing badminton or just chilling having some tea. Feel free to know more about me and contact me at: vangmay.sachan16@gmail.com

Pradyumna: I’m a Y2 CS Major at NUS. I am working on an AI agent that automates financial data analysis. My summer project was about building a platform for ordinary citizens to query Singapore’s public data. I previously ran an economics blog and podcast that got an Emergent Ventures grant, and had over 2000 subscribers. During my free time, you’ll find me reading history or just having fun. You can find more about me here

Arvind Natarajan: I’m thrilled to be joining the AI Society’s executive committee. As a computer science major passionate about harnessing technology to address real-world challenges, I’m excited to bring my experience in software development and machine learning to the team. My background includes working on innovative projects like Klingon Heads, where I apply advanced frameworks and models to enhance language learning and interactive tools. I’m looking forward to collaborating with all of you to drive our mission forward and explore new frontiers in AI. Let’s make this year a groundbreaking one for the AI Society!

Karthikraj Sivakumar: I’m a Year 2 Computer Science student at NUS. I am excited to join the AI Society’s executive committee and embark on this new journey. I have always been intrigued by AI—its ability to simulate human thought and actions, and its massive potential to improve the world. I have worked on a few AI projects, such as a Tamil character recognition model built with a CNN, and a Klingon learning app that I built with Arvind which uses Transformer models. I look forward to sharing my knowledge, learning from others, and exploring the bleeding edge of AI together with the AI Society.

Yen Zhe: I have recently worked on some cool stuff! (generating code with LLMs and getting it to do things (or agents before they are called agents) - STEPS 1st Place. I have always wanted to learn things that are intriguing to me, and I found AI to be a field that is as such! I have previously worked on a RL project using Unity as a platform and have tried to do some literature survey/review of the work done on exposure bias in diffusion models. I look forward to making some technically fun projects in this upcoming semester :), and to share knowledge garnered from these projects with others
